1. What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

Unlike optometrists, ophthalmologists are Medical Doctors and can provide surgical and nonsurgical eye treatment.

2. What do I bring to my appointment?

You should bring to your appointment the glasses you usually wear, original boxes of contact lenses if you wear them, and complete list of your medications.

3. How long is the first consultation?

The first consultation usually requires pupil dilation and the complete examination with the dilated pupil may take up to 1.5 hours.

4. Will I be able to drive myself home if my pupils are dilated during my appointment?

Pupil dilation affects mostly near (reading) vision and usually lasts 1-2 hours, but the office recommends either waiting before driving or arranging for someone to transport.

5. What are the office's hospital affiliations?

Dr. Svetlana Tsipursky is on staff with NorthShore University Health Care System (Skokie, Evanston, Glenbrook, Highland Park Hospitals), Holy Family Hospital Surgical Center and Northwest Surgical center.

6. Is the office wheelchair accessible?

Yes, the office, all exam rooms and testing equipment are wheelchair accessible.

7. Which insurance does the office accept?
